Artist's Choice
SOI:
The process(RC) of play(RC) in artistic creation(GC) can lead to self discovery(KC). Inquiry Questions:
Factual - What tools and techniques have I learned this far in Photoshop? In Illustrator? Conceptual - How can I combine the tools I’ve learned in Photoshop and/or Illustrator to create something original? Where can I find inspiration for this project? What am I interested in that I could use as a basis for this project? Debatable - When is it ok to use derivative work in my artwork? How much do I have to manipulate an existing image before it becomes “my own?” |
Your next project is... whatever you want it to be! ...with some exceptions and expectations, of course. To summarize:
- You must use some of what you have learned how to do in Photoshop or Illustrator this far. The end result doesn't have to be a Photoshop/Illustrator project, but Photoshop or Illustrator has to be used at some point in the process.
- The finished project must be original to you. If you need to review what it means to use other people's artwork in your own, here is a link to the Google Slides doc we viewed about derivative artwork.
- You will receive a process grade which assesses your progress, research, and project goals; these will be first demonstration grades.
- You will also be determining some of the criteria by which your finished project will be graded, and creating a rubric based on those criteria. The teacher plus student grade for the final project will be a second demonstration grade, and a total of 10 benchmarks.
Examples of what you can do:
(must be original and school appropriate)

First Demonstration Benchmarks:
1. Four sketches posted on weebly (4pts)
2. Three proposal questions, posted on weebly (1 pts)

2. Three proposal questions, posted on weebly (1 pts)
Sketches:
You will complete four rough sketches that present ideas for your project. You can do all four sketches on one piece of paper, if you like. The sketches should be posted on your 4th Quater weebly page, along with the three project proposal questions. Project Proposal Questions: 1. What is your project or what is your project about? (Ex. 1) A skateboard design. (Ex. 2) A dream I had about aliens that invaded people's bodies. 2. How will you use Photoshop or Illustrator in your project? 3. What materials do you need for this project? |
Second Demonstration Benchmarks:
Once you have your sketches, you can begin working on your final project. Remember, you are deciding some of the criteria by which your project will be graded. You will create five benchmarks to grade your project on. You will also decide the criteria for meeting the benchmarks. Below is a link to the rubric, which is a Google Doc. Make a copy of the document so that you can edit it. Your project will NOT be graded unless I receive a rubric from you!
You will need to submit the final project on the Google Drive and on weebly. If your final project is not digital, use the scanner to make a digital version you can turn in.
As you work toward the completion of your project, keep in mind your criteria, along with the teacher-generated benchmarks.
