Day 1: Research Assignment 1) Copy and paste three examples of a typographic posters into a google doc. Inlcude the links to where you found them. Describe in detail TWO of the posters. 2) Tell me about the fonts, colors, the way the space is used, graphic elements, etc. 3) What do YOU think an artist needs to consider when making a typographic art design? |
Day 2: Using the Character Panel
We will be using the Character Panel in Photoshop to do some serious manipulation of text! Download the demo file below. We will use it to make a practice Typographic design.

Day 3: Find your text and start designing!
Look on the internet for text to used for your typographic design. The text can be a quote from some one famous, a lyric from a song or poem, a popular saying or idiom, a line from a movie or TV show, or something you made up. You can choose whether or not to include the person who said it.

- Minimum of 6 words
- MUST BE SCHOOL APPROPRIATE
- Start with a US Paper size document in PS.
- Use the Character Panel! (f you don't see it go to Window --> Character)
- Think about all the aspects of poster design we discussed after looking at the research you did. More on this later.
- Due the end of class Tuesday, 2/21/17 (no school on Monday)
Benchmarks (1pt)
To earn the Benchmark, your project must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Minimum of 6 words, school appropriate
- No more than 3 fonts
- Limited color palette (three color families max)
- Must use the Character Panel
- ALIGNMENT- text must be thoughtfully aligned; paying attention to left, right, top and bottom alignment between words and letters
- MARGINS- text must be thoughtfully placed so there is consistency in margins- space between lines of text and between text and the edge of the document
